Recycling of HDPE

The recycling process

HDPE recycling follows well-defined steps: collection, sorting, washing, shredding, extrusion, and pelletization. The resulting material retains most of its original properties and can be used in the manufacture of new products.

Techduto Recycling Program

Techduto maintains an active recycling program that operates on two fronts:

  • Industrial recycling — production waste (trimmings, scraps) is reprocessed internally and returned as raw material
  • Post-consumer recycling — discarded pipes are collected through partnerships with cooperatives and customers and transformed into new compounds

Circular Economy

The concept of the circular economy applied to HDPE means that the material is never permanently discarded. Each pipe can become raw material for a new product, reducing the demand for virgin resin and the amount of plastic in landfills.

Environmental impact

HDPE recycling generates measurable benefits:

  • Up to an 80% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to production with virgin resin
  • Energy savings in the production process
  • Diversion of solid waste from landfills
  • Conservation of non-renewable natural resources

Recycled Compounds 2025

By 2025, Techduto had made significant progress in the development of high-performance recycled compounds. These compounds, formulated from post-consumer HDPE, meet technical requirements for non-structural applications, expanding the company’s sustainable portfolio.
