NBR 15715 — Standard for Corrugated Pipes

Scope of the standard

ABNT NBR 15715 establishes the technical requirements for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) corrugated pipes used to protect electrical, telecommunications, and fiber-optic cables in underground and overhead installations.

Technical requirements

The standard defines strict criteria that the pipes must meet:

Dimensions

It specifies nominal diameters, minimum wall thicknesses, and dimensional tolerances to ensure compatibility between pipes from different manufacturers and connection fittings.

Compressive Strength

Pipes must withstand specific compressive loads without permanent deformation, ensuring structural integrity when buried. Strength classes go up to 750 N.

Impact Resistance

Impact tests simulate real-world transportation and installation conditions, ensuring that the pipe withstands mechanical shocks without cracking or rupturing.

How Techduto complies with NBR 15715

Techduto NBR corrugated pipes are designed and manufactured in full compliance with NBR 15715. Our process includes:

  • Automated dimensional control for each batch
  • Compression testing in our own laboratory
  • Impact tests in accordance with the standard’s methodology
  • Complete traceability of each coil produced
  • Virgin HDPE raw material with controlled melt flow index

Why NBR 15715 matters to engineers

Specifying pipes in accordance with NBR 15715 ensures:

  • Safety — proven protection for critical cables
  • Durability — service life exceeding 75 years
  • Legal compliance — meeting bidding requirements
  • Compatibility — interoperability with standardized fittings
